Antonio Gaudi in shaping the city when visiting
Park Guell,
La Pedrera, and his unfinished masterpiece
La Sagrada Familia. She discovers the city's medieval history at the
Maritime Museum and enjoys the modern day transformation of Barcelona’s seaside at
Port Olympic. Megan explores
Pablo Picasso’s early years in the city with visits to
El Quatre Gats and the
Museu Picasso.
On a road trip out of town, Megan ventures to
Cap de Creus nature reserve, home to rocky treeless landscapes that were a major influence on
Salvador Dali. She visits his nearby home in
Port Lligat and
Cadaques the fishing village where Dali summered as a child. Before ending her journey in Barcelona, Megan trades art for a little hedonistic relaxation in the popular gay friendly beach town
Sitges. Her journey ends in the city with visits to the
Joan Miró Foundation in
Montjuic Park and the
El Raval district for a day of modern and traditional Catalan music.
Also includes Planet Food - BarcelonaJoin Angela May on a culinary journey through Barcelona, a city that is fiercely proud of its culinary traditions yet still on the edge of innovation and modern cuisine. Angela visits La Boqueria market, samples traditional tapas at Pinoxto and the innovative modern tapas of Inopia. Her travels take her to the legendary Seven Portas restaurant in Ametilla del Mar, the annual renaissance festival in Tortosa and the raucous Rioja wine festival.
